The Falcone Report
We move onward from the hope and possibility of January 1st to the cold and loving embrace of February. Although I must admit that the Great White North hasn’t been as snow-filled as it usually is this time of year. And our prognosticating rodent, Wiarton Willie, predicts an early Spring so we’ll see how all that goes. In the meantime, I hope that you are getting set to scoop up some nice discount chocolate on Feb 15th.

This past month has been a very productive one on the novel front and I’ve been working on some pitches that I’m quite excited about. January is usually a pitch-heavy month because you are coming out of that turkey induced coma from December with lots of fresh energy and thoughts bubbling forth with million-dollar ideas.

I’ve been on a bit of a “reading books about writing” kick lately and this is another from that pile. The advice can but summed as very practical advice for a writer on when to be hard on yourself and when to give yourself a break. This, of course, is something that all of us need in our lives whether we write or not, but if you feel like you are in a bit of a rut or block, I suggest you take a look.

- 2 oz Lillet Blanc
- 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
- 1 oz gin
- ½ oz St. Germain Elderflower liqueur
Add the ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Strain into a martini or coupe glass and garnish with a lemon peel (and sprig of rosemary but I didn’t have that around).

This cocktail has been making the news lately thanks to T Swift, so I thought I’d give it a try. Refreshing and very, very easy drinking, one needs to be careful because one drink could easily become four.
