The Falcone Report

August 2024

Sorry to have been out of touch for a bit! It has been a busy few months. Unfortunately, as is the way with such things, I can’t really talk about the fun stuff that I have been working on. Eventually it will hit the stands and I can spill the tea, but for now just know that I’ve been slaving away over a keyboard and having a tonne of fun working on some very cool projects.

And now we’ve hit the almost end of the summer! So, I hope you have been enjoying family, sun, BBQ, and pools as much as is possible. Let’s finish the summer off strong!

What I’m Writing

Ok, in addition to the work that I can’t talk about yet, I have been getting closer and closer to the completion of the Great Comic Caper. I’m really excited to share this sequel with you all and it’s been great to dive back into the world of comic book heists and nerdy con-men.

I’ve also been talking more with Marcus To on our creator-owned book Brotherhood of the Iron Dragon. We have a huge adventure planned for this one and are finding whatever time we can squeeze in so that we can bring it to you as soon as possible.
What I'm Reading
An image of...
The Editor by Sara B. Franklin

An excellent dive into the life of Judith Jones, famed Knopf editor who worked with Julia Child on bringing her cookbooks to the masses. The book is incredibly well researched and is full of information. The author knew and interviewed Judith several times, was given access to letters and private papers, and spoke at length with family, friends, and colleagues. You get a real sense of knowing Judith by the end of the book and having a key insight into the behind-the-scenes life of one of the most influential figures in American literature. Grab a copy from your local book shop or online here.

Monthly Cocktail

Death in the Afternoon

  • 1.5 oz Absinthe
  • 4.5 oz champagne (or your preferred bubbly of choice)
Invented by Ernest Hemmingway in 1932, the author tells us:

“Pour one jigger absinthe into a Champagne glass. Add iced Champagne until it attains the proper opalescent milkiness. Drink three to five of these slowly.”

I’m not sure about the last part of the instructions but one of these makes a very cold very strong drink that is a nice sip over a lazy evening.
I’m always looking for feedback on this newsletter. What kinds of things do you want to hear from me? Let me know here.
